What is SJ Health Insurance Advocates?

SJ Health Insurance Advocates (SJHIA) is a small business that provides hands-on support to help you file each claim, answer any questions your insurance has, and advocate for you if your claims are denied.

What are the benefits of working with SJHIA?

SJHIA can help you anticipate the amount out of network insurance reimbursement you might expect from your health insurance plan before you start your care at Ember Health.

Once each visit to Ember, the SJHIA team can submit your claims on your behalf, eliminating the administrative hassle of submitting on your own. If a claim gets rejected or denied, or if your insurance carrier requests more information, the SJHIA team will advocate for you directly.

Do I need to pay for these services?

SJHIA works on a contingency basis. They will send you a bill for 10% of whatever reimbursement you receive for your care with Ember Health. If your claims are not authorized or are denied, you will not be charged for their services.

Do I need to use SJHIA if I want to submit claims on my own?

SJHIA is an optional service. You are still able to submit reimbursement claims to your insurance company on your own if you’d prefer.

Please consider that Ember Health will not be able to assist you with issues that come up from your insurance company. This means that we will not be able to help with denials, appeals, or requests for more information that your insurance company might demand if you submit the bills yourself.

How do I get started with SJHIA?

You can determine whether or not you would like to proceed with this service at that time, and can always choose to opt-out of the program at any time.

What if I am an existing Ember Health patient and want to file previous claims?

If you are an existing client of Ember Health and would like to submit superbills for previous treatment charges, the SJHIA team may be able to help, depending on the cause for denial.
