We founded Ember Health because we were frustrated by the lack of effective medical treatment options for the millions of people struggling with depression. We know we share this feeling with the thousands of compassionate mental healthcare professionals who provide critical counsel to their patients. They desire better, more reliable complements to their care. Ember Health is a powerful response to this need.

HOW WE PARTNER WITH PROVIDERS

At Ember Health, we provide infusions of ketamine in a safe, monitored environment. Rather than seeing our service as a silver bullet solution, we consider it a critical pillar in a larger context of care for patients with depression. We work closely with each patient’s existing mental healthcare providers to ensure the best outcomes of care. Here’s how:

  • Evaluating Fit: We work with psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists, and primary care providers to help identify patients who may benefit from ketamine treatment therapy.

  • Preparing for Care: We help partners prepare their patients for treatment by providing a step-by-step overview of our process, and ensuring that everyone is aware of the most current clinical and therapeutic practices in the field.

  • Administering Treatment: We provide each ketamine infusion in a safe, monitored environment, with thoughtful attention to every detail of the care experience. Our providers ensure each clients clinical safety and psychological support, and the treatments are administered under the medical licenses of our on site physicians.

  • Evaluating Outcomes: Ember Health provides ongoing efficacy data to providers, and engages in open dialogue to help determine who meets criteria for treatment success.

  • Coordinating Long-Term Care: For each client who responds well to initial treatments, we engage in continuous collaboration with their larger team to craft an individualized care plan.

WHO IS RIGHT FOR EMBER

The American Psychiatric Association lists a wide spectrum of conditions that may be addressed through infusions of ketamine, from depression to PTSD to chronic pain. At Ember Health we focus on helping patients with Major Depressive Disorder, and the Depressive State of Bipolar Disorder. We work with providers to determine if ketamine is appropriate and safe for their patients, and we personally screen all patients prior to each infusion.

EVIDENCE SUPPORTING KETAMINE FOR DEPRESSION

Treatment Success Rates

Whereas fewer than 30% of patients on traditional antidepressants realize relief of their depressive symptoms (Pigot et Al), intravenous infusions of ketamine have shown an average of 75% treatment success rates for depressive episodes in patients with major depressive disorder (CANMAT).

While oral antidepressant medication can take six to eight weeks to take effect and have unwanted side effects (Nature), ketamine takes effect almost immediately after administration, with minimal, if any, harmful effect (Diaz et Al).

At Ember Health, we are meticulous about data collection, and have seen 83% of our clients achieve treatment success from their four foundational infusions. We believe that our high success rate is due to our thoughtful attention to detail surrounding the care experience and the team based approach we take with partner providers to craft individualized, long-term care plans.

Further Literature

Ketamine for depression is an evolving field, and we strive to stay current on related literature and scientific studies. See here an extensive guide to external literature that we compiled for people who value data as much as we do.
